Dear CPS Family:
According to US Air Quality IndexChicago’s outdoor air quality is “unhealthy” today due to wildfire smoke coming in from Canada.
CPS summer programs will utilize plans for inclement weather and will hold events indoors today to reduce risk to students and staff.
Whether your students are participating in a summer program or not, we encourage all families to follow these recommendations from the US Air Quality Index today:
People with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens – take any of these steps to reduce your risk:
- Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
- Keep outdoor activities less.
- Consider moving or rescheduling physical activities indoors.
Everyone else – Take any of these steps to reduce your risk:
- Choose activities that are less strenuous (such as walking instead of running) so you don’t get out of breath.
- Decrease the amount of time you are active outside.
- Be active outside when the air quality is better.
Thank you and stay safe
