Bob Marley finally gets the biopic treatment in ‘Bob Marley: One Love’


Biopics have become such an integral part of any musician’s legacy that they are now being released before their subjects have finished, as in 2019 rocket Manor 2015 Straight Outta Compton, Johnny Cash has been gone barely two years since his Oscar-winning biopic was made walk the Line hit the theaters in 2005. Given that Bob Marley has been dead since 1981 and has been widely considered a de facto saint, at least for that long, a Marley movie seems overdue. correcting that mistake, Bob Marley: One Love is set to release in theaters next January, and we’ve finally got a look at it via a lengthy teaser trailer.

Kingsley Ben-Adir plays Marley, who previously played Malcolm X (in one night in miami) and Barack Obama (in comey rule), a list of Chadwick Boseman’s rival credits painted Black historical data, Lashana Lynch (captain marvel) plays Marley’s wife, Rita, in a film that appears to revolve around their relationship and the wider conflict in 1970s Jamaica.

Biopics of musicians are often based on biographies, which makes sense given that it’s almost impossible to make movies without the rights to the music – and music is often controlled by the composer’s estate. Bob Marley: One LoveIndeed advertises this connection, claiming in its official synopsis that it was produced in partnership with the Marley family.

But watching the idealized version of a music icon reach their creative peak can still give goosebumps. This first trailer is definitely based on the event, featuring Marley singing and performing.
