Deadline revealed today that David Korenswet has been cast as DC Films’ new Superman in James Gunn Superman: Legacy, But beyond the expected piercing blue eyes, who is Korensvet, 29, really?

Gunn is looking to do an extensive search to find new leads for this new franchise. Nicholas Hoult, Korenswet and Tom Brittney were expected to test for Clark Kent; and Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan and Phoebe Dynevor testing for Lois Lane. the wonderful mrs maisel Starr Brosnahan was chosen to play Lane.
Will he look the part?
As mentioned, Korenswet has the expected blue eyes. She has a classic widow’s peak and wavy, dark brown hair. He is also listed at 6’4″, the same height as Christopher Reeves in the classic-era film Man of Steel, and three inches taller than fan favorite Henry Cavill. He’s also American, born in Philadelphia, which may be welcome news for fans who’ve seen some of DC’s biggest roles go to Britons in recent times.

What We Know About ‘Superman: Legacy’
The project was announced earlier this year Gunn and Safran lay out their plans for the first phase of this revised slate And Superman: Legacy was front and center as the project that would help initiate reform. Korenswet most recently played the lead in the FX pilot Answer From producers Darren Aronofsky, Danny Strong, Gillian Robespierre and Kit Steinkellner, plus an Apple TV+ limited series created by Alma Har’el woman in the lake opposite Natalie Portman. He will next be seen starring opposite Lucy Boynton in the picture Searchlight. the greatest Hits From writer-director Ned Benson.
