Edmonton Oilers Will Sign Len Pederson

Edmonton Oilers Signing Forward len pederson Two-year, one-way deal worth $775K per season According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff,

The 25-year-old Saskatoon native is an accomplished AHL scorer who has scored around the point-per-game rate in the American League in recent seasons without much success in the NHL. He played for two NHL clubs last year and scored a combined six points in 27 games.

He has the versatility to play both center and wing and has been an alternate captain in prior positions throughout his career, so his signing would be a huge benefit to the Oilers’ AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, if he were to make the team. Fail in training camp and clear waivers.

While he was claimed off waivers last season, this may not have been as much of an issue in the offseason early in the season as significant injury issues in the middle were a significant motivator for Columbus to stake his claim.

The teams are unlikely to be in equally bad shape at the start of the season, meaning Pederson has a solid chance to start the season in Bakersfield, where he will immediately be one of their most important players as well. There should also be a priority call-up option. The Oilers themselves are in some injury trouble.
