Hikers discovered human remains on Saturday at Southern California’s Mount Baldy, the same mountain area where British actor Julian Sands was found, officials said. Went missing more than five months ago.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said the remains were reported by pedestrians around 10 a.m.
The Sheriff’s Department revealed that deputies responded and transported the victim’s remains to the county coroner’s office for identification.
Sands, 65, was reported missing on the night of January 13 at Mount Baldy, a popular hiking area located in the San Gabriel Mountains about 50 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
Sheriff’s officials announced last week that they resume search to the Sands on 17 June, which will be attended by more than 80 Search and Rescue volunteers, representatives and staff. However, he was not located at that time.

“Despite recent warm weather, portions of the mountain remain inaccessible due to extreme alpine conditions,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement last week. “Many areas that include steep terrain and ravines still have more than 10 feet of snow and ice.”
Last winter, California was hit by a series of historic storms driven by atmospheric rivers, which caused flash floods and landslides across the state and also created dangerous conditions in wildfires.
Two days after Sands went missing, mother of four died After sliding down more than 500 feet from Mount Baldy. Later that month, a 75-year-old man found and saved After missing two days on Mount Baldy.
Sands has dozens of film and television credits in a career spanning five decades. They include “A Room with a View,” “Leaving Las Vegas,” “The Killing Fields,” “Ocean’s Thirteen” and “24.”
