Muskogee, Okla. (AP) – Police in Muskogee, Oklahoma, confirmed Tuesday they are investigating the shooting death of three relatives of seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson.
the body of 69-year-old Jack Janeway; his wife, Terri Janeway, 68; She and her 11-year-old grandson Dalton Janeway were found Monday at a home in Muskogee, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) southeast of Tulsa, Muskogee Police spokeswoman Lynn Hamlin said. Johnson’s race team, Legacy Motor Club, announced on Twitter that it is withdrawing their No. 84 Caravana Chevrolet from this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series event in Chicago. The team said: “The Johnson family have asked for privacy at this time and will make no further statements.”
“We are saddened by the tragic death of Chandra Johnson’s family members,” NASCAR said in a statement. “The entire NASCAR family extends its deepest support and condolences to Chandra, Jimmy and the entire Johnson & Janeway families during this difficult time.”
