Rain wreaks havoc on second day’s schedule of Wimbledon | atp tour


Several matches at Wimbledon have been canceled on Tuesday following light rain at the Championships.

As of 5.15pm BST, the following 22 gentlemen’s singles matches scheduled for Tuesday had been cancelled:

Only two men’s singles matches have been completed as of 6pm BST. Top seed Carlos Alcaraz beat Frenchman Jérémy Chardy 6-0, 6-2, 7-5, playing behind closed doors on Court 1. And two-time former champion Andy Murray beat fellow Briton Ryan Peniston 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 under a closed Center Court roof.

In matches that began but were suspended due to rain, Dominic Thiem defeated fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 3-4 on Court 2 in the pair’s 10th Lexus ATP head-2-head meeting in southwest London. here comes the Rain. Matteo Berrettini is also quickly behind: Lorenzo Sonego leads the 2021 finalist 7-6(5) on Court 12.

Ben Shelton is in a strong position in his Wimbledon debut against Taro Daniels. The #NextGenATP American had a 6-4, 4-2 lead against the Japanese when play was stopped. Holger Roon, one of the young stars of the ATP Tour, leads domestic wild card Georg Lofgen 7-6(4).

Wednesday’s action will feature a frenetic sequence of games, featuring a host of stars such as Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Thiem and Tsitsipas.
