Global power players gather for this year’s ESSENCE Culture Festival Global Black Economic Forum (GBEF) Headquarters Forum, chaired by Vice President Kamala Harris, this Friday at the Ernest N. Will start at Morial Convention Center.
As the nation prepares for the 2024 presidential election, the Vice President will deliver a keynote address on the fight for reproductive freedom on Friday, June 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
In addition to VP Harris’ address, EFOC 2023 is hosting substantial programming dedicated to uplifting the black community politically and economically.
It includes sessions on wealth building and retirement planning, professional development, access and security for women-owned businesses and more that will surely help festival-goers on their way to financial independence and security.
Onslaughts on black history and racial equality across the country, the fight for broadband equity, and the movement for criminal justice reform, there are also extensive policy conversations on racial justice, among other sessions, including a fiery one with Abbott Elementary’s Tyler James Williams Conversation is also included. Other stars and notable personalities taking the stage include Sherrill Lee Ralph on the Voting Rights Panel; Sherri Shepherd, who will moderate a fiery conversation on creating a fulfilling, purposeful life; critical race theory expert and professor Kimberley Williams Crenshaw; and black mayors from across the country, including Mayors Karen Bass, Eric Adams, Sylvester Turner and Justin Bibb.
